Yoga and the Singer's
Breath
with Dennison Smith and Fides
Krucker
Dennison Smith and
Fides Krucker (well-known
contemporary opera singer and voice teacher, and
founding member of the interdisciplinary female
collective, URGE) are teaming up again to teach
Yoga
and the Singer's Breath.
We will be offering three workshops beginning
with vocal breathwork, Yoga and breathwork, and
then vocalizing at a piano. The workshops are
progressive in nature, but you are welcome to
join us for any of them. Whether you are an
actor, singer, or layman who has never sung
before, these workshops are appropriate for
anyone with an interest in the vocal instrument
and the emotional and physical freedom of
breath.
- Explore breath through asana in
relationship to the vocal instrument.
- Discover personal patterns of tension and
release, influencing vocal freedom.
- Access the vayus (the winds of the body)
as they effect the location and resonance of
sound.
- Explore yoga through the complementary
disciplines of deep relaxation and awareness.
Next Session: TBA
9:30 - 10:15 breathwork with Fides
10:15 - 12:30 restorative yoga and pranayama
with Dennison
1:15 - 3 voice and sounding with Fides.
Tuition:
Full workshop: $70 plus gst.
Morning session only: $45 plus gst.

Eco-Restorative
with Dennison Smith
Here is a simple premise: If we truly inhabit
our bodies, which, far from being autonomous are
a changeful dialogue between the internal world
and the external world, we would never harm the
environment which sustains us. In an age of
technological alienation, where Nature herself
is endangered by our way of life, Yoga, in the
light of Ecology, becomes a transformative and
radical act. This two hour
restorative yoga class, framed by the teachings
of naturalists and ecologists Muir and Thoreau
and Emerson and others, is designed to take the
student through a full-body contemplation of the
self in relation and dependence on Nature.

Retreat Weekend: The
Evolution of Asana
with Kim Schwartz
Spring, 2011
Friday April 9, 6- 9pm, Saturday and Sunday
April 10th and 11th, 9 - 12pm, 2 - 5pm. Ayurvedic lunch on Saturday and Sunday 12pm -
2pm.
$340 plus gst (includes ayurvedic
lunches)
This workshop deconstructs the asanas into
their component parts and then reassembles
them. It this way we can explore the primary
aspects of mobility and stability that may be
common to a number of different asanas and
thereby start to see how various asanas relate
to each other and the reasons for the
differences in the asanas.
Kim Schwartz
has studied and taught Hatha Yoga for over three
decades. His lifelong passion for mystical truth
led him to become ordained as a swami of the
Temple of Kriya in Chicago. He was recently
elevated to the position of Maha Swami in the
Kriya lineage, enabling him to ordain others as
swamis. Kim was director of the Temple’s Hatha
Yoga Teacher Training Program before moving to
New Mexico, where he continues to direct High
Desert Yoga’s Teacher Training Program. He is
certified by the Yoga Alliance as a RYT, 500
hours. He is recognized by many well-known yoga
instructors both as a “master of his art” in
personal practice and as a true “teacher’s
teacher”; one with the ability to communicate
the timeless truths of yoga on many levels to
fellow instructors in a way that enables them to
pass this wisdom on to their own students.
